Not Locking Doors- A would-be robber may be watching your house just waiting to see you leave and forget to lock your door. If you have teenage children and they leave the house last, there is an even greater chance for the doors to be left unlocked.

Cheap Locks - Many locksmiths will tell you that the most effective locks are generally more expensive. A burglar will be familiar with various types of locks, especially the cheap ones. This is because they are on the lookout for these types of locks. Having a cheap lock makes your home a target.

Social Media- Posting that you are away on vacation or where you are at any point in the day, can alert an intruder. They are able to use other posts and other online information to figure out exactly where you live.

Not turning on the Alarm- Your alarm is of no use to you if it isn’t on. It should be armed when you are away from home and at night, when everyone is asleep.

Mail- If you are away on vacation and mail is piling up in your mailbox, it is a good chance that a burglar is taking notice of this. This now makes your home a target to burglars.

Trash- When you purchase new expensive electronics, leaving the boxes next to the trash can alert potential burglars on what you have inside your home that would be of value to them.
